When most people start thinking about a mortgage, they walk into the bank where they already have a checking account. It feels simple. But that bank can only offer you one thing: its own loans.
I'm Parker Stein, a mortgage broker licensed in Kentucky and New Mexico. Here's what that difference means for you.
A bank or retail lender has one menu. If its guidelines fit your situation, great. If they don't, the answer is often "no" or "come back later," even when another lender might have said yes.
That's not a knock on banks. It's just how they're built. The loan officer works for that one lender, so they can only show you that lender's programs.
As a mortgage broker, I work with many wholesale lenders. When you apply with me, I look at your whole picture (income, credit, savings and the home you want) and compare which lenders and programs fit it.
That matters most when your situation isn't "standard." For example:
One lender's "no" isn't the end of the road when you can compare several lenders.
Shopping many lenders doesn't mean juggling many people. You work with me from the first conversation to closing day. I collect your documents, compare options, explain the tradeoffs in plain English, and keep you and your real estate agent updated at every step.
Nothing. A pre-approval review is free and there's no obligation. You'll know what you can afford, which programs fit, and what (if anything) to work on before you shop for a home.
Or call or text me at (505) 644-2973.
